Lukens House is designed to assist individuals who have a dual diagnosis; suffering with severe and persistent mental illness and a substance abuse/addiction. By providing the structure and support of a MICA housing program and restorative services we are working toward our mission to reintegrate our clients back into the community while managing their illness/addiction.
The intended stay at Luken’s house is 12 to 18 months as it is a transitional housing program. We have house meetings every week that includes a Resident Chairman, Chairman Assistant, Resident Secretary and the Resident Assistant. Minutes are taken at each meeting. Topics covered include menu planning, NA/AA meeting attendance, chores, morning and evening meeting attendance, house issues, conflict resolution and phase movements.
Residents are required to attend at least four NA/AA meetings per week. We encourage obtaining a sponsor ASAP as it is a requirement for their Phase movement. Clients work through four phases, each phase allows the resident to progress in their individual treatment plan and eventually “phase out” of the program.
MICA Residence Counselors provide and conduct restorative services for residents. They use recovery tools to assist residents in developing coping skills.
