Rockland Homes for Heroes

On behalf of Rockland Homes for Heroes, Loeb House provides management and administrative services for eight affordable rental apartments in Orangetown, New York.  

Rockland Homes for Heroes is a private, not-for-profit 501(C)(3) organization created to provide supportive, affordable and permanent housing for honorably discharged disabled and displaced Veterans.  

It is located on Camp Shanks, “Last Stop USA” in Rockland County. Camp Shanks was the last stop for 1.3 million GIs from 1943-1944 as they prepared to sail to Europe to await the D-Day invasion and to fight the German army in Berlin. Any discharged veteran, man or woman, who meets the Federal guidelines of being homeless is eligible for our services.

We currently have built eight affordable rental apartments on the grounds of Camp Shanks. All eight of the units are rented and we are looking to expand. The United States government has deeded us approximately 8 acres of Camp Shanks’ property. We have currently developed upon approximately 2 acres of property and are looking to utilize the other 6 acres.
